As the 2025 AGM Retail Conference draws near, we are excited to announce that Ben Lorenzen will be joining us as the closing keynote speaker. Serving as the Creative Director at Champions Run in Omaha, Nebraska, Ben has established himself as a leader in the industry through his innovative club concepts and forward-thinking strategies. A seasoned national speaker, he shares his expertise in member engagement, technology, marketing, and creativity, consistently raising the bar for private clubs and enhancing member experiences.

Ben’s influence extends beyond his role at Champions Run; he is passionate about creating dynamic and engaging environments that blend fun, creativity, and a bold sense of adventure. His keynote, “All Grown-Ups Are Pirates,” will inspire attendees to reconnect with their passions and rediscover the joy and excitement that can transform both professional and personal lives.

We caught up with Ben for a preview of what to expect:

Q: Your session is titled “All Grown-Ups Are Pirates.” What inspired you to explore the idea of rediscovering fun and passion in adulthood?

A: I've always been captivated by the story of Peter Pan, particularly the movie Hook, which portrays the journey of rediscovering one's inner child. As we transition from childhood to adulthood, many of us seem to lose touch with the joy, creativity, and carefree fun that once came naturally. What inspired me to focus on this idea is seeing how the grind of everyday life often drains that sense of passion from people—my friends, colleagues, and even myself at times. We get so caught up in responsibilities and the pursuit of success that we forget to make room for play and creativity. I want to challenge people to reconnect with that part of themselves. Rediscovering fun in our adult lives is not just about leisure; it’s about reinvigorating our work, relationships, and sense of purpose. My goal is to help people, especially professionals, bring that spark of passion and fun back into their daily routines.

Q: What can AGM members expect to take away from your session at the Retail Conference?

A: This session is going to challenge AGM members to take a step back and really reflect on how they operate. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and miss opportunities for improvement, particularly when it comes to marketing, creativity, and passion. My goal is to provide a fresh perspective—one that encourages them to rethink how they approach their roles and responsibilities. We’ll explore ways to inject more creativity into their work, streamline their marketing efforts, and ultimately enhance the member experience. But more than that, I hope they walk away with a renewed sense of fun and passion for their jobs. It’s not just about making the work more enjoyable; it’s about creating environments that inspire and engage members, which in turn makes their own work more fulfilling. If they can reconnect with that sense of play and purpose, it will transform how they approach their work and the positive impact they can have within their clubs.

The 2025 AGM Retail Conference will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL – a day of education, networking and retail excellence. Don’t miss out – purchase tickets today to take advantage of early bird pricing available until November 15, 2024.

Experience That Speaks Volumes

"Being in the golf retail business for over 30 years and attending numerous conferences and seminars, I can attest that the 2024 AGM Retail Conference was the most informative and insightful conference I’ve ever attended.  I personally walked away with dozens of ideas on how our National Golf Buyers Association members can improve their daily business. From purchasing, to industry trends, to in-store promotions and low-cost marketing ideas, they had a session to cover every aspect of the industry. If there is any conference you need to attend, this is it!!"
